Our adventures in modernizing a mid century, split level, asbestos laden, lead paint breathin', wallpaper wearin', shag carpet lovin', wood panel brimmin', out to kill us both, marvelous money pit of a house.

Christina asked if we could entertain Aiden for the morning so she could run errands. I asked 'how handy is he ?'. We can't break our stride now, especially with a floor sander out for rent ($60/day).
And so dear Aiden spent the morning cleaning out the attic- which he has a personal interest in since this will be Lego land in the future.
He cleaned out old rolled up carpet , glass from old light fixtures, an old mini bottle of coppertone from a cruise to Nassau (we investigated the P&O Steamship label to see it was a cruise line that went between Miami and the Bahamas), and he found a cute straw bag which I promptly removed from the trash pile- I love it!
I brought burrito-night leftovers and whipped up some grub for us - it's all very campy preparing a meal there- no microwave or plates or utensils other than 3 plastic spoons left over from our 'before party'. I used one small pot and tin foil to deliciously fill 3 worker bellies. Move over Pioneer Woman, there's a new Sheriff in town!
Mike started the effort to remove the wood burning stove from one of the fireplaces- per State Farms insistence . I think we will use it in the A-frame if we can figure out how on earth to get it out of the house! It appears they built the house around it.
Today Mike has to work so I made a Home Depot and Sherwin Williams paint store run, now at the house to (hopefully) finish sanding. Mike is supposed to drop off the replacement sander since the one we had caught on fire yesterday. It obviously can't keep up with the Caponis, NEXT!

Back - isn't it magical! I expect a Hobbit to pop his head out |
Inside - remember this ladder shown |
Window and shingles are gone off the back! They are scattered in a thousand pieces on the ground. |
Terrorized! Both windows shattered in the front, the interior is ram-shackled. |
Wasn't that ladder IN the structure previously? Looks like riffraff tossed it out the window, taking down the shingles with it. That ladder is HEAVY - at least 2 riffraffs involved. |
Break's over guys, staples don't remove themselves! |
